My sister and I live over 1,200 miles apart, so carving out quality girls time is a must for us! Each year, we decide on a fun location for our sister adventure and this time it was Curaçao, one of the Dutch ABC islands in the Caribbean, off the coast of Venezuela. It is a friendly island which retains its charming European flair with colorful colonial buildings, art galleries, and alley murals.
We rented a car through a local company which conveniently delivered it directly to our resort. For a week we explored the island and its clear, turquoise waters. Our favorite beaches included Cas Abou and Porto Marie, where we snorkeled through a kaleidoscope of marine colors. Schools of tropical fish darted around us as we swam above the coral reefs teeming with life. When it was time for a break, we ate a delicious seafood lunch at Porto Marie’s charming beach restaurant.
After some time basking in the sun, floating in the refreshing water, and more snorkeling in search of sea turtles, we packed up our belongings and headed to the Blue View Sunset Terrace. With salty hair and sun-kissed skin, we enjoyed a tropical beverage featuring the blue liqueur named for the island. This local restaurant is a hidden gem that offers the most extraordinary ocean vistas. Truly spectacular and the perfect place to watch the sun begin to dip towards the horizon, casting a golden glow over the water. We felt so lucky to be together, enjoying the beautiful and vibrant island of Curaçao.
